Solar PV Panels (Photovoltaics)

Investing in Solar Panels allows you to earn a tax-free income for 25 years. Big savings can also be made on your energy bills if you can use the electricity they produce.

Thanks to Feed in Tariffs, a Solar PV system will earn payments for each unit of electricity your Solar Panels produce and for any surplus energy exported to the grid.

Households with a typical 2kWp domestic system will receive an average of £392 per year in FITs payments and cut their annual energy bills by around £121.

FITs payments will continue for 25 years after installation and it will take approximately 10 to 13 years to recoup the initial installation cost of a Solar PV system.

Solar Thermal Panels (Hot Water)

Solar Thermal technology converts the sun’s energy into hot water. This can then be stored in a cylinder and used around the home for washing, bathing, etc.

A residential Solar Thermal Panel system allows you to make average annual savings of between £55 and £85 on your water heating bills.

From Summer 2013, homes with Solar Thermal systems will also receive payments for each unit of heat generated through the UK Government's Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). These payments will amount to around £250 per year and systems fitted now will qualify.

An RHI Premium Payment/grant of £300 is available to bridge the gap until the full Renewable Heat Incentive begins. Read more about Solar Thermal.

Loft Insulation & Cavity Wall Insulation

Having your property insulated by professional installers can dramatically reduce the level of energy required to heat your home, thus reducing your energy bills.

Installing Cavity Wall Insulation can save around £115 on annual fuel bills and cut CO2 emissions by 610kg.

Loft Insulation, is estimated to save around £150 each year in energy costs and 800kg of CO2.

If your loft merely needs its current insulation topping up to the recommended depth of 11", this could save you around £45 per year in energy costs.
